Extremely rare opalescent art deco vase manufactured around 1930 by Cesari.

The Cesari production was at a very high level, the same one as the most beautiful Sabino's, Lalique's, Verlys' or Etling's pieces.
Made in a of very thick (and very heavy) opalescent molded glass, the geometric design is simply oustanding.
The glass as an fantastic opalescence with a delightful white halo effect. The base is set in a silvered craddle.

One rarely see this kind of complexity in any press molded glass, even in a lot more expensive glass such as Lalique as the most raised portions of the design were polished by hand to create gleaming clear highlights, resulting in a dramatic three dimensional effect. This effect of opalescence is produced by re-heating parts of the molten glass when it has just started to cool, and heat-sensitive chemicals in the glass turn the re-heated sections white.

The amount of white edging varied considerably, depending on how close and for how long the item was reheated.
Little is known about Cesari, it is thought to be either a designer or retailer's mark. It was almost certainly produced at the Choisy-le-Roi glassworks who produced a number of opalescent pieces for the likes of Hunebelle and Etling.

Some pieces by Cesari are illustrated in 'Opalescence Le Verre Moulé des Années 1920-1930' by Philippe Decelle
