Extremely rare and exceptionnal art deco vase manufactured in France around 1925-1930.
While this vase is not signed, the quality of the work screams Schneider or Daum.
The overall design of the vase is an multi-faceted ziggurat on a pedestal.
The 3 upper levels have been ornamented with a stylised foliaged which was was achieved through the etching of the uppermost layer. Aeras which needed to remain untouched were covered with a protective substance (bitumen) while the then so stenciled remaining aeras were cut out in an acid bath.
Typical for the etching process is the roughened surface as can be clearly seen on the pictures. The vase was then polished in selected areas of the design to give a contrast of shiny and frosty surfaces
