Extremely rare, very large art deco vase manufactured around 1930 by the glass manufacture of Pierre D´Avesn.
Avesn, like Lalique, explored all aspects of the natural world in his extraordinary range of decorative glass.
This truly stunning vase features an array of loversized fishs intertwined with geometrical patterns which were so typical of D Avesn. Absolutely spectacular about this vase is how the plasticity of the 3 dimensionality has been achieved.
The most raised portions of the design were polished by hand to create gleaming clear highlights, resulting in a dramatic three dimensional effect. This is a high quality piece with a substantial weight. The pieces done by Pierre d'AVESN are increasingly sought after because of his quality of design and fabrication. He started his career at a young age and learned his trade well from the great René Lalique.
Pierre D'Avesn designed Lalique's famous Serpent vase as well as the Tourbillons vase, two of the most highly priced and extremely collectable pieces of "Lalique". He also worked for Daum: in the 20s and 30s most of the glass producers in France traded designers back and forth.
This wonderful and classic glass art piece has an embossed moulded P. D´Avesn signature in the base.
