Extremely rare and EXCEPTIONNAL, pair of large high style art deco desk lamp by Degue.

A simply stunning piece of early art deco lighting which epitomizes the french art deco style in its very early stage, a lamp which would be at ease in any interior designed by Ruhlman, Leleu, Sue and Mare etc...

The base consists of silvered bronze. The exhuberance of geometric patterns are simply STUNNING and is matched by an extremely rare octogonal shaped shade which sides are opulently ornamented with flowers while the top section seems to be sculpted ice blocks.

A spectacular by design and of the highest quality, the glass thickness being of close to 0.7 inches, the beauty of this pair is reinforced by the satinated surface of the glass wich dramatizes even more the details.. The pictures don t do justice to these magnificent pieces. The set is in excellent condition and has been newly rewired.

About Degué

Degué is the artist signature of the glassmaker David Guéron. David Guéron, which origins were turkish started founding the Cristalleries De Compiègne at the beginning of the 1920s. Wishing to extend his activity to the luxury segment, he founded the Verrerie d'Art Degué in Paris in 1926. His main products were vases and ceiling shades where he experimented in many different colours.

He also copied many of the work done by Daum, Muller and above all Charles Schneider (le Verre français). His notoriety he achieved with the quality of the art deco designs he produced lead him to employ also designers who were working for Schneider. This situation lead Schneider to sue him and both companies almost didn t survived the conflict. Degué did employ many designers like Édouard Cazaux but did also some designs himself. The company closed with the IIWW and David Guéron left France in 1939
