Extremely rare art deco planter or centerpiece manufactured around 1930 by the glass manufacture of Pierre D´Avesn.

This very unusual designed bowl is a stunning example of elegant and extremely delicate glass craftmanship for which the Lalique and D´Avesn glass manufacture were famous for.

The design, while showing a clear art deco influence with the stepped fashion has a neo classical sides as can been seen in the handle´s treatment. The reverse side of the bowl is frosted by acid etching while details were polished by hand to create gleaming clear highlight.

About Avesn

The pieces done by Pierre d'AVESN are increasingly sought after because of his quality of design and fabrication. He started his career at a young age (14...) and learned his trade well from the great René Lalique.

Pierre D'Avesn designed Lalique's famous Serpent vase as well as the Tourbillons vase, two of the most highly priced and extremely collectable pieces of "Lalique". After he set up his own range of glass products, he also worked for Daum and Verlys : in the 20s and 30s most of the glass producers in France traded designers back and forth.
